The Fallen
Several U.S. 1st Army soldiers of the 26th Infantry Regiment undertake the gruesome task of identifying the bodies of their fallen comrades after taking a German radar observation post (note the antenna array on the tower in the background). A medic is standing by, unable to help the fallen heroes. The location is given as somewhere near the Schierke Forest, Germany, and is dated April 20, 1945. From the Webmaster’s collection.
