Letter from Mary Ramaekers

Margraten,
Dec. 16 1945

Dear Mrs. Johnson.

I think you are very surprised to get a letter from Holland. Here in Margraten is a big cemetery and I was there for information, one of the soldiers give me that address because there was a soldier how visited his brothers grave and he asked to the soldiers of that officer if they know somebody  to take care of that grave and therefore they asked it of me. All the Dutch people want to take care for graves of the American hero’s how fight for our freedom. We are very thankful for that.

First I condole you with the dead of your dear son or husband.

My name is Mary Ramaekers and live here in Margraten, ten mins. of the cemetery. I hope that I can do what you wish to do when you was here. To bring flowers, to pray for them. I will close for now and I hope to hear from you soon.

The best regards to you from,
Mary Ramaekers
